Nearly 200 students from regional colleges attended the three-day hackathon hosted by Stony Brook (N.Y.) University Feb. 16 to Feb. 18. Northwell Health invited hackathon attendees to participate in two challenges: one involving application programming interfaces and another involving predictive algorithms.
This year marked the first time Dr. Anantraman brought a team from Northwell Health to a hackathon. In addition to showcasing the innovative skillsets of people within the IT department, his team also sought to identify prospective job candidates.
“We get a direct peek into their talent,” Dr. Anantraman said in a Feb. 27 Northwell Health statement, adding his team set up several hackathon participants with interviews for summer internships after the event.
