New York Digital Health Accelerator Recruiting Second Class of Tech Startups

Following a successful first year, the New York Digital Health Accelerator is currently accepting applications from startup and growth-stage health IT companies to be a part of the accelerator's second class.

Up to 10 companies will be chosen to participate in the accelerator, which is a joint venture between the New York eHealth Collaborative and the Partnership Fund for New York City. The selected companies will each receive $100,000 in capital and advice from leading New York hospitals.

Last year's eight-member inaugural class found significant success after participating in the accelerator. Cureatr, a mobile care coordination solution vendor, raised $5.7 million in Series A financing. CipherHealth, a vendor of post-discharge engagement solutions, signed 20 hospitals in one quarter after the program ended. Avado, a developer of cloud-based patient relationship management software, was acquired by WebMD. Together, the eight companies in NYDHA's first year raised a total of $11.4 million in post-program funding and significantly expanded their customer bases.

The second class will feature companies focused on care coordination, patient engagement, predictive analytics and workflow management.

"The Digital Health Accelerator program has proven to be a highly successful means of generating innovative technology solutions for some of healthcare's biggest challenges," said State Health Commissioner, Nirav R. Shah, MD, in a news release. "This next class will focus on creating products that improve patient health through technology, such as care coordination software for physicians or medication adherence applications for patients."
