Netsmart to acquire Change Healthcare's home care, hospice solutions

Netsmart entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Change Healthcare's home care and hospice businesses, Netsmart confirmed April 6.

Under the agreement, Netsmart will integrate the Change Healthcare Homecare Advisor and Hospice Advisor solutions into its CareFabric framework, which includes health information exchange, referral management and mobility solutions.

The acquisition will strengthen Netsmart's position as a leading provider of post-acute technology and services, the company said. Netsmart's network of software solutions connects behavioral health, home care, senior living and social services providers with their acute care referral partners.

Netsmart officials expect to complete the acquisition during the second quarter of 2018, subject to customary closing conditions.

"Working with our clients, we have proven that home care and hospice providers can integrate with their referral partners in a more effective manner," said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. "Coming into 2018, we have some really solid proof points which support our belief that post-acute providers need more than just a traditional EHR to be successful."
