Microsoft to utilize AI to ‘solve’ cancer

Microsoft revealed a number of new artificial intelligence-based initiatives focusing on cancer, reports The Verge.

Microsoft researchers are currently working to “solve” cancer through a variety of techniques. One initiative involves creating simulations of cancer development in different patients. Another consists of creating programmable biological cells, while others entail using AI to analyze CT scans of tumors and to design new medication regimens.

The technology giant isn’t alone in its pursuit. Companies such as Google’s DeepMind are launching similar research projects aimed at improving cancer research.
