The tech giant hired researcher Iain Buchan, MD, a former clinical professor in public health informatics at the U.K.-based University of Manchester, to lead the effort. The team’s research might include developing predictive analytics tools or personal health information systems, Dr. Buchan told The Telegraph.
The department will also use technologies like machine learning and cloud computing to research and develop monitoring systems to help keep patients out of hospitals or explore large studies into diseases like diabetes, according to The Telegraph.
