Microsoft posts $90B revenue for fiscal year 2017: 5 things to know

Microsoft released its fourth quarter earnings results for fiscal year 2017, which ended June 30, on July 20.

Here are five things to know.

1. Microsoft reported $89.95 billion in total revenue for 2017, a 5 percent increase from fiscal year 2016.

2. The company’s net income was $21.2 billion, up 26 percent from last year.

3. Microsoft posted an operating income increase of 11 percent, from $20.18 billion in 2016 to $22.33 billion in 2017.

4. Microsoft reported the company’s diluted earnings per share was $2.71, compared to $2.10 one year prior.

5. Microsoft’s intelligent cloud revenue increased $723 million. This category was driven by revenue for Azure, the company’s cloud platform, which increased 97 percent year over year
