Mercy Partners With Philips to Expand Telehealth Services

Chesterfield, Mo.-based Mercy has announced further collaboration with Philips to expand the use of telehealth to the system's acute-care hospitals.

Since 2006, Philips' telehealth technology has been used in Mercy intensive care units and emergency departments. Beginning April 2014, Mercy plans to add bidirectional audio and video access to patient rooms and expand its home care technology program with a freestanding virtual care center, one of the first facilities of its kind in the country.

"With the right leadership, people and processes in place, Mercy has become a model for how to roll out a coordinated telehealth strategy that truly changes the way patients receive care," said Brian Rosenfeld, MD, vice president and CMO, Philips Healthcare Hospital to Home. "Our acute-care program builds on the success we've had in the ICU, emergency department and the home, and we will continue to partner with leading health systems like Mercy to expand telehealth programs across the country."
