MedStar Health’s technology partner for the service is American Well. The telehealth service, called MedStar eVisit, initially launched as a pilot program for employees. It was expanded to the general public in October 2016.

To access a MedStar eVisit, patients pay $49, which qualifies as a reimbursable healthcare spending account expense. The cost is reimbursable through certain health insurance plans.
