Medical records found in Kentucky dumpster: 5 things to know

Thousands of medical records were found in a Richmond, Ky., dumpster, according to a Lex18.com report. Here are five things to know.

1. Carl Swanger, a Madison County man discovered the medical records in the dumpster of a storage facility.

2. Unsure of what to do, Mr. Swanger brought the medical records to the nearby Baptist Health in Richmond, Ky., where the records are being held.

3. The records came from a Richmond radiology clinic that actively practiced in the area in the late 1990s and early 2000s, according to the report.

4. The medical records contained sensitive information including Social Security numbers, dates of birth and medical conditions.

5. Officials at Baptist Health are attempting to track down the physicians from the radiology clinic.
