Medical Informatics Engineering breach now estimated to impact 3.9 million patients

A data breach first announced by Fort Wayne-based Medical Informatics Engineering on June 10 may have affected 3.9 million people, according to a statement from Greg Zoeller, state attorney general.

Although a follow-up notice posted to MIE’s website includes updated information regarding the breach, the company makes no mention of how many individuals were impacted.

MIE has made public on its website a full list of affected clients, including 11 healthcare providers and 44 radiology centers. The compromised information includes Social Security numbers, lab results, medical conditions, health plan information and more.
