Lockheed Martin expands data security responsibilities at VA

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is expanding its work with Lockheed Martin to improve data security for its Million Veteran Program, according to a GCN report.

The Million Veteran Program is an effort to build a database of health information from 1 million veterans, according to the report.

Lockheed Martin will help secure genomic data storage and access under the new Cooperative Research & Development Agreement. The company has been working with the VA on security for the Million Veteran Program since 2011.

Lockheed Martin’s security solutions for the program include role-based security, encryption, multifactor authentication and more, according to the report.
