LinkedIn, Ohio stakeholders join forces to analyze data on local health IT talent

LinkedIn, is collaborating with a team of stakeholders in northeast Ohio to provide market research on the region's health IT talent pool.

The analysis project, supported by the Cleveland Foundation, will study the "talent flow" of computer science professionals in the area, including software developers, data scientists and data analysts. The goal is to inform policy, educational curricula and talent alignment strategies to address the regional shortage of health IT professionals.

Cleveland-based BioEnterprise, the City of Cleveland, Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga County will also contribute to the effort, which is part of a BioEnterprise initiative called "HIT in the CLE."

"One of the critical limiting factors to growth in Northeast Ohio's bioscience industry today is the availability of health IT talent," said Aram Nerpouni, president and CEO of BioEnterprise. "The LinkedIn project should provide meaningful data and analysis to inform how we address this challenge."
