Question: What do you consider your No. 1 priority as CMIO? How do you ensure you’re successful?
Dr. Donald Levick: To ensure smooth and successful implementations of our clinical information systems. We base our success on standard and agreed upon [key performance indicators] and by satisfied end users.
Q: What is the biggest challenge you’re facing as CMIO? What keeps you up at night?
DL: Overcoming cultural differences of the target hospitals and provider groups.
Q: Which apps and technologies do you find most helpful, and which do you think will be passing fads?
DL: The apps and technology I find most helpful is mobile access to clinical systems and data. As for which technology will become a passing fad, I think virtual reality for healthcare.
Q: What is the vision for your team in 2019? How will you approach your role and meeting your goals?
DL: My vision is to develop my team and their skill sets, and for the team to become a highly effective vehicle for change management and implementations. My role is to place the team into a position to succeed and remove any barriers.
