Ms. Chapman’s IT team brought Lahey Health’s 15,000 employees — who practice at more than 50 sites across Massachusetts and New Hampshire — onto G Suite, a package of Google’s most popular cloud-based services for businesses, in only 91 days. G Suite includes apps like Gmail, Google Docs, Google Drive and Google Calendar.
Prior to the go-live employees at Lahey Health had used one of four legacy email systems, which created communication silos across the health system, according to Ms. Chapman. “That’s a big deal when you’re serving healthcare professionals who want to communicate and respond in a timely and thoughtful way,” she said during her presentation.
Ms. Chapman acknowledged the go-live faced resistance from some employees — “some just prefer the solutions they were used to,” she said — but she maintained G Suite helps employees better collaborate across the health system and said most staff have embraced the platform.
“[We knew,] if successful, we would be the largest healthcare institution yet to partner with Google,” she said. “The result? Our colleagues can [now] share knowledge, empathy and ingenuity at a level they’ve never had before.”
