During the third testing week, 1,238 submitters voluntarily participated in ICD-10 testing and submitted more than 13,100 claims. CMS accepted 90 percent of those claims.
Of the rejected claims, CMS found the reasons for rejections were unrelated to ICD-10. For example, rejected claims errors include invalid national provider identifier, invalid beneficiary number, invalid or missing ZIP code or invalid Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System code.
This week, CMS released new tools and resources to help providers prepare for ICD-10, including the “Road to 10” tool geared specifically for small physician practices.
