Jose Arrieta named CIO of HHS

HHS chose Jose Arrieta to lead IT efforts as CIO, according to FCW, a federal technology publication.

The appointment was announced May 23. The position has been open since August, when former CIO Beth Killoran moved to the General Services Administration. HHS Chief Technology Officer Ed Simcox has served in the interim.   

Mr. Arrieta will take on the CIO role after serving as HHS’ associate deputy assistant secretary for acquisition. A blockchain advocate, Mr. Arrieta is expected to focus on innovation in the agency’s IT department, according to the report.
