Patients admitted with severe burns to Smithfield, N.C.-based Johnston Health can now receive consultations with specialists from the Jaycee Burn Center in Chapel Hill, N.C., thanks to the organizations' new telemedicine partnership, according to The News & Observer.

Johnston Health launched the new program July 29.

The two organizations are 60 miles apart, but the technology allows for real-time collaboration and communication between clinicians and patients.
