Dallas-based International Hospital Management Corp. selected Allscripts Sunrise Acute Care EHR for its flagship hospital, Hospital CIMA San Jose, in Costa Rica.

IHMC operates healthcare facilities in Central and South America using best practices from their respective regions. The facilities are modeled after facilities in the United States.

Hospital CIMA San Jose is fully accredited by the Joint Commission International, and it also holds certification from the Latin American Quality Institute.

Allscripts isn’t the first IT vendor to be implemented overseas. In January, Kansas City, Mo.-based Cerner partnered with the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Health to launch the first patient portal in the Middle East, providing residents of Dubai and the Northern Emirates secure access to their health records in a bilingual member portal.

Allscripts itself has international offices in India, Canada, Australia, Israel, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

Additionally, Verona, Wis.-based Epic Systems has corporate offices in Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, Singapore and Copenhagen.

San Francisco-based McKesson also has offices across the world, in Canada, France, Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

As these top IT vendors are broadening their reach across the country, they aren’t stopping at American borders.
