Intermountain Healthcare moves to open IT platform

Salt Lake City-based Intermountain Healthcare plans to transition its services from legacy solutions to an open-source infrastructure.

The platform — which is developed by Red Hat, a provider of open-source solutions — will help Intermountain Healthcare cut costs and increase scalability, including cross-platform capabilities. It also offers enterprisewide IT automation to streamline operations for the health system's 22 hospitals and more than 180 clinics.

"As we look to the future, it was imperative that we be able to bring IT automation to all aspects of our business, and that our infrastructure was flexible enough to do so," said Bret Lawson, director of infrastructure and operations at Intermountain Healthcare.
