Dr. Rao previously served as CEO of Nervana, an AI company Intel acquired last year. Under his leadership, AIPG will continue to develop its AI portfolio — called the Intel Nervana platform — by bringing together resources from across the Intel enterprise, such as engineering, labs and software services.
AIPG will also establish an applied research lab, which will house all AI-focused innovation at Intel.
“As a data company, it is imperative that we deliver solutions that create, use and analyze the massive amounts of data that are generated each and every minute,” Dr. Rao wrote. “Data inference, or finding useful structure in data, may indeed be the largest computational problem of our time. That is why AI is so important to Intel.”
