In February, BCBS of Kansas City was contacted by two of its members who reported there had been unauthorized charges made on credit cards they had recently used to make payments by phone to BCBS of Kansas City.
On February 26, BCBS of Kansas City discovered one of its employees had improperly accessed the members’ names, addresses, credit card information and bank account information and put their personal and financial information at risk, according to the notification letter.
BCBS of Kansas City sent letters to all affected members in April, and is offering one year of free identification protection as a result of the breach.
