Students at the University of Colorado School of Nursing have been wearing Oculus VR goggles to simulate being in the emergency room, KMGH-TV in Denver reported May 9.
The school looked into virtual reality when some students were unable to do in-person clinical work during the pandemic, but going forward it may be used to give aspiring medical professionals “real world” experience from the comfort of their classrooms.
“We know students love it, but does it actually help us with patient care and patient safety? My hope is that it will,” Angela Pal, an assistant professor at the school, told the TV station.
The study is still in its early stages.
