The state of New York will allocate more than $300 million to hospitals for health IT upgrades, cybersecurity enhancements and telehealth expansion.
The funding will support 22 projects through the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program IV and V, according to a Dec. 12 news release from Gov. Kathy Hochul’s office. Set to be administered by the New York State Department of Health and the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York, the program will prioritize infrastructure modernization, patient information security and improved access to virtual care.
The initiative will target financially distressed providers.
The awards will build on New York’s broader investment in health system transformation. Since 2016, the state has allocated more than $4.7 billion in healthcare capital funding, including more than $1.75 billion through the transformation program, the release said.
