Healthcare leads venture funding amid April slump

Despite a global slump in venture capital funding in April, the healthcare sector raised $5.7 billion, Crunchbase reported May 3.

Large funding rounds from Noah Medical, Orbital Therapeutics and Enveda Biosciences boosted the numbers. 

Overall, companies active in artificial intelligence raised 13 percent of the total $21 billion raised.

Total venture funding was down 56 percent year over year.
