Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health has launched a partnership with Uber Health to provide eligible patients with transportation to and from medical care.
The initiative offers nonemergency rides for qualifying patients discharged from the hospital, those attending medical appointments, medical students after shifts and Monmouth University students visiting the Eatontown Urgent Care center, according to a June 12 news release.
The collaboration aims to reduce missed appointments and improve adherence to care plans by removing transportation barriers.
While the initial focus is on medical transportation, Hackensack Meridian Health said it may expand its use of Uber Health’s services to include prescription, grocery and over-the-counter item delivery in the future.
