Cohere creates language processing software used to build AI applications, such as chatbots. The investment comes after Cohere agreed to a multi-year partnership with Google in November 2021.

Through the partnership, Google supplies the cloud computing power for Cohere to train its AI models.

The investment talks also follow a report that Microsoft is looking to complete a second investment into AI company OpenAI.
