Microsoft in talks for 2nd funding round in OpenAI

Microsoft is looking to complete another investment into artificial intelligence company OpenAI, the Wall Street Journal reported Oct. 20.

Microsoft is now in advanced talks to complete the investment. However, no deal has yet been reached and an agreed-upon funding amount has not been decided. In 2019, Microsoft invested $1 billion into the company.

OpenAI, which uses Microsoft's Azure cloud service, specializes in the research and development of various AI products. Most recently, the company has developed AI-generated art.

The company would likely use any Microsoft investment to fund the computing power it needs to work on its AI projects, according to the Journal.
