Epic plans to add a new MyChart feature that will let patients ask the platform’s AI assistant, Emmie, to help set and work toward personal wellness goals.
The tool will help patients quit smoking, increase physical activity, track sleep and pursue other health goals, with wellness plans personalized using information already in a patient’s chart, the Verona, Wis.-based EHR vendor said in an Aug. 20 LinkedIn post.
Linking a wearable device will expand the feature. Epic said pulling in step counts and heart rate data from a smartwatch will let Emmie automatically track a patient’s exercise progress and help realistically adjust next-step goals.
Physicians stand to benefit as well. Epic said its Care Companion for Wellness tool can give doctors a richer view of a patient’s health trends over time.
