Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic’s “platform” approach is fueling innovation and outcomes at the health system.

Mayo Clinic Platform, the first organization of its kind in healthcare, brings together data, solution developers and healthcare providers to cure disease.

“Our platform model benefits all,” Mayo Clinic President and CEO Gianrico Farrugia, MD, said at PlatforMed 2025 held June 3-4 in Minneapolis, according to a news release. “It certainly benefits patients. It benefits physicians and other providers. It benefits innovators. It benefits hospitals and others who run and pay for healthcare. As platform leaders, we are working together and shaping a better, more innovative way ahead for healthcare.”

Mayo Clinic Platform has analyzed data to increase survival rates in glioblastoma patients associated with specific antiseizure medications and better control of hyperglycemia and created simulated patient populations and synthetic placebo arms to make clinical trials faster, cheaper and more inclusive, Dr. Farrugia said at the event.
