Charlotte, N.C.-based Advocate Health has launched the Advocate Health National Center for Clinical Trials, a systemwide initiative it says will create the nation’s largest and most inclusive clinical trial network.
The new center aims to make clinical research part of routine care across the health system’s 69 hospitals, more than 1,000 care sites and nearly 6 million patients. Advocate Health said the effort is designed to remove barriers that limit participation — with only 5% of eligible U.S. patients enrolling in trials — and simplify a process that has become increasingly complex for researchers.
According to a Nov. 18 news release, the center will embed trial enrollment directly into provider workflows and use AI-powered matching tools, centralized data tracking and predictive analytics to connect patients with appropriate studies. It operates under a single institutional review board and is supported by Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Advocate Health’s academic core.
Designated trial sites will manage logistics and compliance, allowing clinicians to more easily identify and enroll eligible patients. The network will span academic medical centers and rural clinics.
