Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth is introducing smart rooms at its more than 55 hospitals across nine states.
The health system is rolling out the technology in stages throughout 2026. The rooms include digitized whiteboards, digital door signs, and secure, in-room video capabilities integrated with patients’ medical records. The video system enables virtual visits with physicians, nurses, translators and other care team members, with patients’ loved ones able to join remotely.
“Patients appreciate being able to see their care plan and communicate more easily with their team,” said Valerie McKinnis, MD, vice president of clinical innovation for AdventHealth, in a March 26 news release. “We’re hearing that it reduces uncertainty, helps people feel informed and makes their stay more comfortable.”
