Four health systems’ venture capital arms are participating in a $27.4 million financing round for virtual care startup KeyCare.

York, Pa.-based WellSpan Health, Minneapolis-based Allina Health, University of Chicago Ventures, and Edge Ventures (the investment arm of Emplify Health, headquartered in Green Bay and La Crosse, Wis.) are also strategic partners of the company, which offers a 24/7 virtual care platform with its own medical group and instance of Epic.

“Over the past year, KeyCare has played an important role in supporting 24/7 urgent care access for UChicago Medicine’s patient population through convenient virtual care,” said Hannah Levine, executive director of UCM Ventures, in a March 3 news release. “Evidence indicates that thoughtful virtual care access benefits both patients and providers by enhancing care availability, treatment adherence, and triage efficacy.”
