How Much Have Hospitals, Health Systems Invested in MU2? 9 Statistics

Approximately 75 percent of the 298 hospital and health system senior-level IT executives surveyed for the 2014 HIMSS Leadership Survey expect their organization will attest to meaningful use stage 2.

For most of these organizations, attesting to meaningful use stage 2 necessitates a significant financial outlay. The survey revealed the following about the amounts these hospitals and health systems are investing:

  • 15 percent are investing under $250,000
  • 15 percent are investing $500,000 to $499,999
  • 9 percent are investing $500,000 to $999,999
  • 8 percent are investing $1 to $2 million
  • 4 percent are investing $3 to $4 million
  • 1 percent are investing $5 to $9 million
  • 1 percent is investing more than $9 million
  • 19 percent do not know how much their organization is investing
