HIMSS Analytics and Vocera surveyed 124 clinical and IT leaders from health systems, hospitals and outpatient facilities about how organizations select and deploy IT.
The respondents had similar priorities, with the exception of one measure. The majority of clinical leaders ranked experience measures — like physician engagement and patient experience — an important measure of success, while a minority of IT leaders selected it as a top metric.
Here’s how respondents report measuring the success of clinical IT solutions.
1. Clinical measures: 72 percent of IT respondents, 83 percent of clinical respondents
2. Implementation measures: 63 percent of IT respondents, 65 percent of clinical respondents
3. Efficiency measures: 60 percent of IT respondents, 61 percent of clinical respondents
4. Technical measures: 54 percent of IT respondents, 63 percent of clinical respondents
5. Experience measures: 47 percent of IT respondents and 70 percent of clinical respondents
