For the report, Impact Advisors outlined five themes that emerged during a roundtable discussion with 22 leading hospital CIOs at the Scottsdale Institute 2018 Annual Conference this past April. During the roundtable, the CIOs were asked to discuss what they perceive as their CEOs’ top IT-related priorities.

Here are five areas CIOs cited as their organization’s top IT-related priorities:

  • Digital health and patient experience: cited by 17 of the CIOs
  • IT cost containment and value realization: cited by 13 of the CIOs
  • Innovation: cited by 12 of the CIOs
  • Support for growth: cited by 12 of the CIOs
  • Cybersecurity: cited by 11 of the CIOs

Impact Advisors acknowledged the themes may not be representative of providers nationwide. However, the consultancy argued the trends provide “great insight and important perspective into how a group of leading CIOs from advanced organizations are responding to the rapidly evolving health-delivery landscape.”
