Both organizations are focused on engaging all stakeholders to drive positive change in the health IT industry. Following the merger, several initiatives will be launched or expanded, including the creation of the HIMSS Center for Patient-and Family-Centered Care and the incorporation of NeHC’s educational programs into the HIMSS resource library.
The merger comes as NeHC’s five-year cooperative funding agreement with the ONC expires. “NeHC leadership is excited to come together with the HIMSS Foundation and to be part of the recognized leader in the health IT field,” said NeHC CEO Kate Berry, in a news release. “This is a wonderful opportunity to leverage and build on the capabilities and strengths of the two organizations and our many members to drive progress that will ultimately benefit patients.”
