HIMSS, American College of Clinical Engineering present ‘Excellence in Clinical Engineering’ award to Axel Wirth

The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society and the American College of Clinical Engineering honored Axel Wirth with the 2018 ACCE-HIMSS Excellence in Clinical Engineering and IT Synergies Award, the organizations announced Jan. 19.

Each year, HIMSS and ACCE present the award to a health IT leader who the organizations’ boards of directors agree “[demonstrate] leadership in promoting or implementing significant synergies between the clinical engineering and information technology professions,” in terms of professional or technical contributions to the field.

HIMSS and ACCE selected Mr. Wirth due to his work promoting compliance, privacy and security in the healthcare industry. Mr. Wirth serves as a distinguished healthcare architect at Symantec Corp., and has sat on the HIMSS Privacy and Security Committee.
