HHS was charged with nominating three members to the committee — one of the three had to represent HHS and another had to be a public health official. The newest appointees join 15 Government Accountability Office-appointed members who will serve one-, two- or three-year terms. Additionally, Congressional leaders are set to appoint eight members, six of which have been announced.
Here are the three newly appointed HITAC members.
1. Public health appointment: Leslie Lenert, MD, chief research information officer of Charleston-based Medical University of South Carolina
2. HHS representative appointment: Clem McDonald, MD, director of Bethesda, Md.-based Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications
3. General appointment: Robert Wah, MD, global chief medical officer of McLean, Va.-based DXC Technology
