Healthcare cloud more vulnerable than other industries

The percentage of documents stored in the cloud has dramatically increased, according to Elastica’s Q2 2015 Shadow Data Report.

Even if stored in company-approved cloud apps, 3.2 percent of all files represent risky data exposures, according to the report. Healthcare tops the list of industries for the most policy violations resulting in leaks of protected health information.

Healthcare is the second leading industry for total exposures. Here is the percentage of total exposures by industry:

•    Entertainment: 64 percent
•    Healthcare: 16 percent
•    Consumer: 8 percent
•    Telecom: 5 percent
•    Financial: 3 percent
•    Education: 2 percent
•    Technology: 1 percent
