Healthcare can save $24k per patient with digital transformation, says Accenture

The healthcare industry can save $60 billion through digital transformation, according to an Accenture report.

The report, titled Digital Affectability: Therapeutic Lens on Value, details the economic potential of using digital assets for disease prevention, intervention and monitoring in the life sciences sector. The Accenture team deduced digital initiatives will lead to $60 billion in economic opportunity after adjusting for risk, translating to $24,184 per patient.

Here is the risk-adjusted economic impact for six key disease areas.

1. Diabetes: $30.3 billion

2. Congestive heart failure: $13.6 billion

3. Alzheimer’s disease: $6.2 billion

4. HIV: $4.8 billion

5. Breast cancer: $2.8 billion

6. Multiple myeloma: $2.3 billion
