Health Information of 13k Virginia State Employees Compromised

The health and personal information of 13,000 public employees in Virginia is at risk after an insurance subcontractor erroneously sent all the information to multiple human resources and payroll officials, according to a WVTF report.

Each human resources or payroll office should only have received information for employees at that location. The state has received written certification that all information received in error by the offices was deleted, and affected employees have been notified, according to the report.
