Health Gorilla, a health information network and interoperability partner, partnered with verification program Clear to launch an individual access service that will initially allow patients in Puerto Rico to access their health information.
The health information network will use Powered by Clear to verify a patient's identity when accessing their health records. While initially focusing on Puerto Rico, the partnership plans to expand to other regions, according to a March 8 Clear news release shared with Becker's.
"Enabling Puerto Rico citizens to access their own health information through this partnership is very exciting," Alexander Quevedo, state health IT coordinator at the Puerto Rico Department of Health, said in the release. "It will give patients more agency and empower them with data at their fingertips."
