HCA invests in future data science talent

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare is strengthening the next generation of healthcare data scientists through a partnership between affiliate TriStar Health and Meharry Medical College.

TriStar provided $600,000 as part of HCA Healthcare’s $10 million pledge to Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic Service Institutions, for paid internships and scholarships in the School of Applied Computational Sciences.

Nashville-based Meharry offers master’s and doctorate degrees in data science and biomedical data science.

In addition to the financial gift, HCA’s information technology group will take recommendations from Meharry’s faculty for paid internships annually.
