HackensackUMC launches patient-facing app: 4 things to know

Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center has launched a new app: HackensackUMC Mobile Access, according to nj.com.

Here are four things to know.

1. The app is designed to allow patients mobile access and control over their care.

2. HackensackUMC Mobile Access allows patients to look up symptoms, find physicians and make appointments, according to the report.

3. The app also allows patients using MyChart through HackensackUMC's Epic EHR to view test results, communicate with their physicians and even send data from fitness trackers.

4. There are plans to add a "Track My Health" feature to the app, which will allow patients to easily request their medical records and receive alerts anytime a physician looks at their records, according to the report.
