Google to expand ride-sharing service across US

Mountain View, Calif.-based Google is planning to expand its ride-sharing application, Waze, in various cities throughout the United States, reports Fortune.

Google already had a successful trial run of Waze in San Francisco and Israel.

Although it's competing with big names like Uber and Lyft, Waze's offerings will be slightly different. Waze will work as more of a true ride-sharing application, in which drivers can pick up and drop off individuals going in the same direction. Additionally, Waze is allegedly offering lower prices and currently refrains from taking a portion of its drivers' earnings.
