Here are three things to know about the Alphabet Healthcare Workshop:
1. Alphabet’s life-sciences business Verily and its health-focused Google Brain AI project are some of the units represented at the event. Others include the Google Fit wearables team; Calico, which is conducting anti-aging research; and Google’s Nest. CNBC previously reported Nest was exploring a product line to help seniors live independently longer.
2. The event marks one of the first times Alphabet has hosted a gathering for its health units, according to CNBC.
3. Leaders from Google, such as its AI chief Jeff Dean, and Verily adviser Robert Califf, who is the former commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration, are slated to speak at the workshop. In addition, cardiologist and author Eric Topol, MD, is scheduled to speak.
