The Google Maps recovery locator tool will show more than 83,000 recovery support meetings, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, Al-Anon and Narcotics Anonymous. To access the function, users need to enter their current location or their preferred area to view a list of more than 33,000 locations offering services.
An additional tool, called the naloxone locator tool, shows locations where naloxone, an opioid overdose-reversal drug, is offered without needing a prescription. The resource already includes 20,000 pharmacies, including CVS, Rite-Aid and Walgreens, in all 50 states, and to access the directory, users need to type “naloxone near me” or “Narcan near me” in the search bar.
Google also launched a new website, Recover Together, which offers resources for individuals struggling with drug addiction, including its recovery resources map.
