In an interview with Wired, Google’s Jeff Dean, PhD, said that much of AI’s potential will come from building larger and more efficient computer systems and translating the research of the past decade into real-world uses, including in healthcare, where Dr. Dean said Google is doing “a fair amount of work.”
“But we also are looking at what are the next major problems on the horizon, given what we can do today and what we can’t do,” he continued. “We want to build systems that can generalize to a new task. Being able to do things with much less data and with much less computation is going to be interesting and important.”
