Google is rolling out the feature for users who have Smart Health Card Vaccination records, which are currently available to those vaccinated in states including Utah, New Jersey, New York and California.
The Vaccination Credential Initiative, which comprises a group of healthcare and tech companies including Epic, Cerner, Mayo Clinic and Apple, created the Smart Health Cards. The Commons Project Foundation is a co-chair of the group.
With the new feature, Android users in the U.S. can download the CommonHealth app and add their Smart Health Card digital vaccination record. Once the digital record has been saved to their phone or added to their Google Pay digital wallet, it is displayed as a QR code.
