GE CTO joins board of healthio

GE Healthcare's Chief Technology Officer Vivek Bhatt, PhD, accepted a position on the board of directors of healthio, an artificial intelligence-based startup.

Healthio is a data aggregation and AI platform that combines health-tracking apps and devices to improve overall health and wellness. Applying machine learning, healthio's platform works to better understand its users' physiology to  predict or prevent negative health outcomes.  Its model shifts healthcare management to the user.

Dr. Bhatt will serve as the lead independent director at healthio, while maintaining his role at GE. As CTO of GE's Clinical Care Solutions division, Dr. Bhatt oversees a global engineering team comprised of more than 1,400 engineers. He is responsible for new product engineering, advanced technology development, propelling GE's new mobile and digital health business strategy, and ongoing support of the installed base of products.

He also serves as an advisory board member with The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University.
